Vancouver - For the 20th year in a row, Canadian Parents For French - BC & Yukon is offering a fun-filled educational youth conference for grade 6, 7 and 8 French Immersion and Francophone students called Rencontre Française. Boys and girls from across the province and territory will come together on the Burnaby campus of Simon Fraser University from May 22-24 to experience the socio-cultural activity of a lifetime.

Drama, sports, science experiments, hikes, theatre and dance: it’s all part of the fun for the 150 participants who will spend the entire weekend exclusively in French. A typical participant is an enthusiastic grade 6, 7 or 8 student who is comfortable using their French language skills and wants to take part in a great weekend on a university campus, meet other students and explore new activities. The conference program is designed by experienced coordinators skilled in working with youth, and the participants are supervised by mature bilingual monitors.

The registration fee of $160 for CPF members ($185 for non-members) covers all accommodation, meals and workshops. Transportation costs to and from Vancouver are the responsibility of participants’ families. Contact your local CPF chapter or school administrator as some districts and chapters may have funds available to help with the registration fee or transportation costs.

IMPORTANT: CPF is delighted to offer on-line only registration for Rencontre Française. Registration officially opens on January 28, 2009 and closes on April 9, 2009.
