Official opening ceremony of École au Coeur-de-l'île Print E-mail

(Richmond, October 5, 2011) The 142 students of École au Coeur-de-l'île in Comox, on Vancouver Island, just moved in their new regional school. The construction workers left a couple of weeks ago and after the moving and first week of class, the students are ready to meet the neighbourhood and the community.

The Provincial Education Ministry has provided more than 23 millions dollars for the project, including around 15 millions dollars for the construction of this new public school on the old Village Park Elementary School, on 566 Linshart Rd, in Comox.

The new regional school has been planned to eventually host more than 300 children from Kindergarten to grade 12. This building is meeting the highest seismic and environmental standards, i.e. the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Gold level.

The new public school official opening ceremony will be held on October 11, at 1 pm with dignitaries from the Federal and Provincial government, the Municipalities of Courtenay and Comox, parents, students and members of the local community attending.
