Yesterday was another exciting day for me as I visited more free Olympic venues in downtown Vancouver. First I visited the Canada Pavilion at Live City Downtown. I got in Live City pretty quickly, but the queue for the Canada Pavilion was long. Fortunately, they were broadcasting Olympic events on a big screen, and that kept me entertained as I waited. Once I got inside, I saw a lot of interactive games for children like touch screen curling and virtual slap-shot. You could even take pictures of yourself in a bobsled or carrying the Olympic torch. Next stop was Ontario House. As I proudly put a VIP card around my neck – no line up for me this time, I thought - I saw that there was no one waiting to get in Ontario House, so my VIP status went for nothing. Ontario House featured high tech gadgets like touch screen computers and smartphones. The most popular exhibit was a thought-controlled computing installation by InteraXon called Bright Ideas. Bright Ideas lets you control the lighting shows of famous Ontario landmarks like Niagara Falls or the Parliament buildings through the power of your brain waves. I tried it on Parliament. I watched the screen, and as my brain focused on something, I could see the lights become brighter. I was amazed! Imagine what we could do with brain-wave technology- it would make our lives so much easier. Yesterday was also the men's hockey quarterfinal game between Canada and Russia. I decided to watch it at Live City Yaletown. Since the game wasn't starting for another hour, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the Coca Cola Pavilion. It was divided into two parts: the first part was a history tour of Cola Cola, a sponsor of the Olympic Games since the 20's and of the torch relay since 1996. The second part featured interactive games and FREE COKES! The game was ready to start when I exited Coco Cola pavilion, with people beginning to gather around Live City’s two big screens. As the puck dropped, the Canadians played very aggressively and scored a goal within three minutes. The crowd burst into cheers and roars. But Team Canada wasn't finished. Their offensive exploded with seven more goals, resulting in a 7-3 win over the Russians. Canada moves on to the next round – Slovakia!
