| Visiting Granville Island |

I visited Granville Island yesterday since it’s going be one of the most popular spots in Vancouver during the Olympic Games. To get there, I took the Olympic Line from the Olympic Village Canada Line station to Granville Island. The interior of the streetcar donated by Québec’s Bombardier was very new-looking and clean. As it made its way smoothly and silently to Granville Island, I took some photos to share with you guys.
I arrived at Granville Island after a six-minute ride. My first visit was to the Swiss House. I was expecting an exhibition devoted to Switzerland with chocolate and cheese samples, for example. I was disappointed to learn that the House will mostly be a restaurant, with chocolate offered only on selected days. Coincidentally, Granville Island’s La Place de la Francophonie had its grand opening yesterday, and since I was already there, I decided to take a look around. From what I could see, the False Creek Community Centre used by the Place as its main exhibition space wasn’t ready yet, with many boxes and posters still on the ground. The Place’s Club Adrenaline sports bar was open, though, and will feature many performances starting at 9:30 pm every night. I also visited the Pavillon Agrotouristique where some of the province’s Francophone organizations like l’Alliance française offered information in French about Canada as a tourist destination. http://placefranco2010.ca/
I will be going back to Granville Island during the Games. Stay tuned for more discoveries |
