Traditional + Troubadour = Trad’badour = Roger Dallaire, storyteller and  accordionist + Daniel Gervais, fiddler and nickel harpist.  When they were growing up in the small northern Albertan town of St Paul (better known as the UFO capital of Canada), Roger and Daniel kicked around the idea of forming a musical duo. Time passed and each went his own way, with Roger earning a living as a performer and Daniel studying music. Then, in 2007, Daniel became a professional musician and Trad’badour came into existence. Their first album  came out a year later. The duo presents authentic French-Canadian call-and-response songs, instrumental music, stories, clogging and dances. Trad’badour’s K-9 school show (which has recently been adapted to include the grade 10 to grade 12 age group) is an interactive experience, with children being led to discover French-Canadian culture through Roger's engaging songs and stories and Daniel’s fiery fiddle and nickel harping.

"Best show we’ve had at our school in years. Even the K-3 students were interested."
Principal, École Boréal, Edmonton

Musician Bios:

Roger Dallaire lives and breathes tradition. For the more than two years, he has vigorously promoted Alberta’s French-Canadian heritage in schools across the province for the Alberta Provincial Archives. A multidisciplinary artist (musician, actor, ventriloquist, dancer, storyteller and playwright with over a dozen plays to his credit) Roger has scored several successes, including his performances with Québec story telling legend Fred Pellerin, in  Rencontre Insolite.   Roger plays the accordion, banjo, spoons, bones, dancing man and jaw harp.

Daniel Gervais has been playing the violin since the age of five. He plays a variety of fiddle styles and classical violin. Daniel has had the opportunity to tour with Clinton Pelletier. Daniel has also appeared on countless television and radio programs such as Good Morning Canada and various CBC broadcasts. Daniel was honoured to have competed at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championship in August of 2003, representing Alberta. He was the “Young Performer of the Year” winner at the 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards. In the spring of 2003 Daniel released his debut album Flying Fiddle. Daniel's second album, entitled Endless Possibilities, was released in April 2005. A third album was recently released.
