Bonjour CPF Saanich Members January 2019: We've had a busy start to the 2018/19 school year. Our funds are being challenged due to reduced fundraising support and lower membership. Nevertheless, our band of volunteers have brainstormed and we have an exciting line up of French learning opportunities for our Saanich schools. Please check out our latest newsletter (downloaded below, page by page as this website only accepts small files!). +Catch up on what's going on in our district and link to the latest research report on "The state of French-Second Language Education in Canada" and discover how well French-second language (FSL) programs are faring across Canada. +Demand for French Immersion too high - resulting in a lottery selection process... +The popular Maple Man is returning to host his exciting workshop for all students at our elementary schools in Deep Cove and Keating. A great opportunity for our young children to learn about maple syrup production! +A treat is in store for all Stelly's French students in May - once again we have invited Theatre la Seizieme, the only francophone professional theatre company in British Columbia, to host a live performance of their latest show "Simon a toujours aime danser". Our chapter would not exist if it were not for the amazing group of volunteers who offer their time to plan, deliver and support wonderful French learning events to our French students in Saanich. So far this year we have been able to host many wonderful events starting with a district-wide School Welcome Back events, "Bonjour, Bonne Nuit" (with a wonderful group of Bayside students), and with many other events still in the pipeline. Our volunteers are priceless- thank you! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the school year fast approaches we are delighted to share our CPF Saanich, Summer Newsletter. Please take a moment to review. We've had a busy time and we encourage you to consider how you can become more active in the new school year. We currently are seeking volunteers to join our amazing team to further advocate for French learning and offer additional French activities in our schools. Specifically, we are seeking : a Treasurer, School representatives (Deep Cove, Keating and Stelly's), Fundraiser coordinator, PC guru and ad hoc volunteers who can help with small projects/assignments (anything from just a couple of hours to a few weeks). These roles can be shared and provide you with a stronger understanding and connection to your students French learning. Do please consider and feel free to contact me or any of our team to learn more.
