Senior Rencontre Française Monitors

CPF-BC & Yukon requires 15 bilingual senior monitors to supervise a group of Grade 7 and 8 students from across the province for the weekend of May 12-14, 2006. Monitors are expected to be on-site at SFU from Friday morning at 10:00 am until Sunday at noon. Senior monitors must be over 19 and love working with groups of students in this age group. We are looking for monitors that are mature, responsible, creative and fun.

Rencontre Française is a French Immersion event where participants are required to speak in French only. Monitors are expected to be fluent in French and be able to motivate their group of students to speak French only during the event. Each senior monitor will be assisted by a junior monitor. Together the monitor pair will supervise their group of 10 students from Friday at 3:00 pm until Sunday at 11:00 am. During the weekend, monitors will accompany their group to activities, meals, and workshops as well as have the opportunity to lead their group in creative activities such as cooperative games and writing and performing skits/songs in French.

Please include relevant previous work and/or volunteer experience in your application, when submitting your cover letter and resume. First-aid and/or CPR certificates are considered an asset (please be prepared to send a photocopy of the certificates to CPF-BC & Yukon). Successful applicants must undergo an up-to-date criminal record check at their expense to be received by the CPF-BC & Yukon office no later than May 1st. An honorarium of $300 is given to senior monitors at the conclusion of the weekend.

Junior Rencontre Française Monitors

CPF-BC & Yukon requires 16 bilingual junior monitors to help supervise Grade 7 and 8 students from across the province for the weekend of May 12-14, 2006. Monitors are expected to be on-site at SFU from Friday morning at 10:00 am until Sunday at noon. Junior monitors are between 16 and 19 and love working with students in this age group. We are looking for monitors that are mature, responsible, creative, fun, and motivated to model French communications all weekend. Please include relevant previous experience in your application and a letter of reference with contact information (phone and/or email) from a current French Language Arts teacher. First-aid and/or CPR certificates are considered an asset (please be prepared to send a photocopy of the certificates to CPF-BC & Yukon). An honorarium of $75 is given to junior monitors at the conclusion of the weekend.
